Basketball Game Preview: Fletcher Senators vs. Oakleaf Knights

The Fletcher Senators will take on the Oakleaf Knights in a tournament on Friday. Fletcher will be strutting in after a win while Oakleaf will be coming in after a loss.

Fletcher took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 63-53 victory over Paxon School For Advanced Studies.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fletcher to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jasmine Cross, who went 5 for 11 on her way to 15 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikiah Sloan, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 12 points.

Fletcher was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 60-28, which was the final score in Oakleaf's tilt against Rickards on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Raiders are ranked 18th).

Fletcher's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Oakleaf, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
