Baseball Game Preview: Briggs Bruins vs. Cristo Rey Cougar

The Briggs Bruins will take on the Cristo Rey Cougar at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Briggs will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.

While Briggs' victory against Marion-Franklin wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bruins had just enough and edged out the Red Devils 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bruins have posted since April 2nd.

Brailyn Hernandez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Hernandez wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Martin, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Cristo Rey's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Mansfield Christian by a score of 8-7.

Briggs pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Cristo Rey, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
