Baseball Game Preview: Alexander Spartans vs. Parkersburg South Patriots

The Alexander Spartans will head out to take on the Parkersburg South Patriots at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Alexander is leaving town to face Parkersburg South after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Alexander came up short against Eastern on Saturday, falling 12-5.

Alexander saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Abfall, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another was Noah Ray, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Parkersburg South, as they earned their first away win of the season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Fort Frye a 3-0 shutout on Monday. The three-run effort marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Easton Walker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Walker was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
