Basketball Game Preview: Freeport Bulldogs vs. Pensacola Catholic Crusaders

The Freeport Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Pensacola Catholic Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Freeport's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 14 matches.

Last Tuesday, Freeport came up short against North Bay Haven Academy and fell 74-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (61), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Freeport might have lost, but man, Julius Miles was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 boards. The contest was Miles' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dameyan Martin, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Pensacola Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-57 heartbreaker at the hands of St. John Paul II. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Crusaders have suffered since November 26, 2024.

Pensacola Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Freeport, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7.
