Baseball Game Preview: Hanover Central Wildcats vs. Boone Grove Wolves

The Hanover Central Wildcats will head out to face off against the Boone Grove Wolves at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hanover Central has four straight wins, Boone Grove has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Hanover Central made easy work of Chicago Mt. Carmel and carried off an 8-1 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.

Hanover Central got a great performance from Matt Cook as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Caiden Verrett was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Dylan Bowen, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Boone Grove might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to Illiana Christian, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Boone Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Hanover Central, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Hanover Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Boone Grove in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
