Soccer Game Preview: Stillwater vs. White Bear Lake

The Stillwater Ponies will head out to square off against the White Bear Lake Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stillwater's defense has only allowed 0.3 goals per game this season, so White Bear Lake's offense will have their work cut out for them.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Stillwater and Cretin-Derham Hall, and Stillwater kept the tradition alive. The Ponies' defense stepped up to hand the Raiders a 5-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering Stillwater have won nine matches by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, White Bear Lake had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 goals) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 2-0. White Bear Lake's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six contests.

Stillwater's victory bumped their record up to 13-1-1. As for White Bear Lake, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

Stillwater couldn't quite get it done against White Bear Lake in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 4-2. Can the Ponies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
