Basketball Game Preview: Calais Blue Devils vs. Machias Bulldogs

Calais hasn't had much luck against Machias recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Calais Blue Devils will challenge the Machias Bulldogs at 8:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Calais comes in on five and Machias on seven.

Calais is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 69-54 victory over George Stevens Academy. 69 seems to be a good number for the Blue Devils as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Machias blew past Shead, posting a 73-41 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 26 points or more this season.

Machias pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points over those games. As for Calais, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.

Calais couldn't quite finish off Machias in their previous meeting back in January and fell 42-40. Can Calais avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
