Baseball Recap: Cypress Creek Takes a Loss

Cypress Creek suffered their closest defeat since March 26, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Nature Coast Tech Sharks by a score of 6-4. The Coyotes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Sharks earlier this season, when they won 5-1.

Colin McGee was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Everett Burgess was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Andrew Farriss, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Cypress Creek now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Nature Coast Tech, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

Cypress Creek and Nature Coast Tech should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Cypress Creek (ranked 255th) will meet Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate (ranked 562nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
