Football Game Preview: Arp Tigers vs. Kountze Lions

The Arp Tigers will square off against the Kountze Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Arp knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Kountze likes a good challenge.

Arp will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating West Rusk, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Tigers walked away with a 33-21 win over the Raiders on Friday.

Arp didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Wyatt Johnson led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Chrisden Ellis is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Kountze after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was Woodville who ended up claiming the real prize. The Lions fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 27-24. The Lions have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Arp's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.8 points over those games. As for Kountze, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
