Preview: Corner Canyon Chargers vs. Lehi Pioneers
Corner Canyon has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Lehi Pioneers at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Corner Canyon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matches -- so hopefully Lehi likes a good challenge.
With a playoff game on the line, Corner Canyon rose to the challenge on Friday. They took down Lone Peak 35-21. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Corner Canyon was the (much) better team in the second half.
Isaac Wilson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 204 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, and also throwing for 202 yards and two touchdowns. Bryton Brady was another key contributor, gaining 89 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Lehi faced Davis in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lehi took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 52-21 victory over Davis. The result was nothing new for Lehi, who have now won six matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Jett Niu was on fire: he threw for 368 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in two rushing scores. Another player making a difference was Grayson Brousseau, who picked up 99 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Corner Canyon's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for Lehi, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as the pair haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Corner Canyon commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.9 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Lehi struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 per game.
