Basketball Game Preview: Riverton Hawks vs. Waltonville Spartans

Having just played yesterday, the Riverton Hawks will jump right back in to play the Waltonville Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Riverton strolled past New Berlin with points to spare, taking the game 58-42. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Pretzels are ranked 414th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Waltonville really took it to Johnston City for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-44 win. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Riverton and bumps their season record up to 20-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. As for Waltonville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which somehow still isn't as good as their 21-4 record this season.
