Baseball Recap: Southeast Guilford Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Southeast Guilford extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 10-12 in the process. They blew past the Northwest Guilford Vikings 10-4. Considering the Falcons have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

As for Northwest Guilford, they moved to 11-10 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since March 11th.

For Northwest Guilford's part, they had to settle for second despite strong performances on the mound from Weston Taylor and Nick Trogdon Taylor tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Trogdon pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Trogdon has allowed since back in February.

At the plate, Northwest Guilford saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nic Turner, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Jace Matko was another, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Looking ahead, Southeast Guilford will be playing in front of their home fans against Page at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northwest Guilford, they are taking a road trip to challenge Southwest Guilford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
