Basketball Recap: Elko Comes Up Short

Elko lost against Pine View back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Elko Indians were dealt a 69-42 defeat at the hands of the Pine View Panthers. The match marked the Indians' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Pine View's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Schmitt, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jelani Odjegba, who posted nine points and eight assists.

Elko is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5. As for Pine View, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.

Elko didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-35 loss against Desert Hills on the 31st. As for Pine View, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 75-44 victory against Summit Academy on the 31st.
