Softball Recap: Arcadia's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was a good run, but Arcadia unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 6-3 to the Van Buren Black Knights. If the Redskins were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Black Knights when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Alanna Tucker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Addyson McCartney made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Averie Smarr was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Arcadia's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Van Buren, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arcadia will take on Ada at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Van Buren, they will square off against Mohawk at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Black Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 13 runs per game this season.
