Football Game Preview: Ridgewood Maroons vs. Weequahic Indians

The Ridgewood Maroons will face off against the Weequahic Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Ridgewood sitting on 15 straight wins dating back to last season and Weequahic on three.

Ridgewood's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Wednesday. Everything went their way against Kennedy as they made off with a 26-0 victory. The Maroons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by 26 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Weequahic had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 33-6 win over the Mustangs. The Indians are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fifth match they've won by 20+ points this season.

Weequahic's win came from a few key players Ridgewood will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Samiyah Hutchins, who rushed for 86 yards and one TD, and also picked up 44 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 44 receiving yards gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Heaven Porter, who gained 145 total yards and a touchdown.

Weequahic didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Montville to a completion percentage of just 50%. The team can thank Sahnae West for the heroic effort on defense: she. Weequahic wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 85.7%.
