Softball Game Preview: Cabool Bulldogs vs. Licking Wildcats

The Cabool Bulldogs will challenge the Licking Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cabool has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with eight straight losses, while Licking will come in with four straight wins.

Cabool is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 23-15 to Salem on Thursday. Even if the Bulldogs couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Meanwhile, Licking was not the first on the board last Wednesday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 14-9 win over Dixon.

Zoey Dawson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Mya Rinne was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Dawson wasn't the only one making solid contact: Licking kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Licking's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.4 runs over those games. As for Cabool, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
