Football Recap: Sultan Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Sultan had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-3 to make it four. They had to suffer through a 59-14 loss at the hands of the Mt. Baker Mountaineers. The Turks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-7.

Despite the loss, Sultan still got an impressive performance from Timothy Dilger, who picked up 65 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Dilger was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 65 yards. Sultan also got a significant boost from Hunter Ansell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.

As for Mt. Baker, their win bumped their record up to 3-1. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Mt. Baker's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jet Ross led the charge by picking up 198 receiving yards and five touchdowns. With that strong performance, Ross is now averaging an impressive 132 receiving yards per game. Toga Tigilau was another key player, throwing for 249 yards and five TDs on only 14 passes.

Coming up, Sultan will welcome Cedar Park Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mt. Baker, they will venture away from home to square off against Nooksack Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mountaineers will be up against the Pioneers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
