Shawnee Heights came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 59-54 victory over the Hayden Wildcats. Given the Thunderbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Wildcats are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shawnee Heights' win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Hayden, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.
