Baseball Recap: Concord Drops Season-High Score on Mt. Diablo

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Concord). They were the clear victors by a 25-0 margin over the Mt. Diablo Red Devils on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bears with their most commanding win of the season.

Adrian Machado and Max Dashner made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Machado tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Dashner pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Machado has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Machado went 3-for-5 with four runs and one RBI, while Dashner went 4-for-5 with five runs, one double, and one RBI. Dashner is becoming a predictor of Concord's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-15 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaron Hunt, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Concord is undefeated when Hunt posts two or more runs, but 5-15 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Rosas, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Concord was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Concord's win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-15. As for Mt. Diablo, they dropped their record down to 3-20 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

As of now, neither Concord nor the Red Devils have any future games scheduled.
