Recap: Springfield Tigers vs. Lowellville Rockets
It was a good run, but The Springfield Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to Lowellville on the road by a decisive 27-13 margin. Springfield lost against Lowellville in their previous head to head back in September of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 42-24 score last time.
Despite the loss, Springfield still got an impressive performance from Dante Gentile, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown.
Michael Ballone continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lowellville, rushing for 146 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while also throwing for 194 yards and a touchdown. Ballone was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Lowellville also got help from Santino Rivera-ocasio who showed off his sure hands for 95 receiving yards.
Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Lowellville, their win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield will take on Monroeville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lowellville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Catholic Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
