Basketball Recap: Mize Takes a Loss

Mize lost against Richton back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. 2025 welcomed the Mize Bulldogs with a 72-48 loss courtesy of the Richton Rebels. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly 24 points.

Leading Richton to victory were Sanquillo Belton and Dakota Amos. Belton posted 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Amos went 6 of 11 en route to 17 points. Those three steals gave Belton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daylin Carter, who put up 11 points.

Mize now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Richton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Mize didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-55 loss against Collins on the 7th. As for Richton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 42-31 defeat against Forrest County Agricultural on the 4th.
