League recap: King breaks off league-leading run for Saginaw

Jaylen King of Saginaw ran for the longest rushing play in 4A Region I District 6 this season against Chisholm Trail last week. King ran for 88 yards on the play and finished with 103 on the day as his team topped the Rangers.

Birdville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Eastern Hills, 55-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Hawks.

Zach Files threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns. He was seven-nine with zero interceptions.

Collin Basinger was the best wideout in the league this week as Birdville beat the Highlanders. Basinger tallied four receptions for 78 yards. Samuel Nothey helped Birdville's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 70 yards.

Justin Martin provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Jim Skinner's team defeated Eastern Hills. He completed 16 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 55 yards.

Russell Murphy was the most productive running back in 4A Region I District 6 this week. He ran for 229 yards on seven carries as Saginaw topped Tracy Simien's team.

On the ground, Mike Peters' team's Murphy has rushed for 601 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Scott Moody. The Boswell star has 26 catches for 543 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Saginaw takes on second place Birdville. Last week, the Rough Riders defeated Chisholm Trail, while Birdville bested the Highlanders.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Hawks take on Saginaw. Birdville's offense has scored 361 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Rough Riders have allowed only 21 on the year.

One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Hawks and Saginaw face off next week. Martin has thrown for 1655 yards and 21 touchdowns this season, while Jordan Love has plagued opposing QBs to the tune of five sacks.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Birdville takes on the Rough Riders. The Hawks have allowed 72 points this season, while Saginaw has given up 21. Birdville allowed 0 points last week as it defeated Eastern Hills.

There should be lots of points scored when the Hawks and the Rough Riders face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Birdville comes in having scored 361 this season, while Saginaw has scored 295. The Hawks scored 55 points last week as they topped the Highlanders.

Carter-Riverside moved up to 973 from 1,032 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of falling to Boswell 60-0.
