Baseball Game Preview: Merced Bears vs. Westlake Warriors

The Merced Bears will be taking part in a tournament against the Westlake Warriors at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Merced saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Luis Obispo.

Merced saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Speidel, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Westlake was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They came up short against San Luis Obispo, falling 9-2.

Blake Miller made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

Merced has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Westlake, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.

Merced might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Westlake when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
