Gavin Shefsky looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

Meanwhile, East Lake fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Clearwater Central Catholic on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Marauders by a score of 5-4. It was the first time this season that the Eagles let down their fans at home.
Andrew Sheffield was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Dylan Taft was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
The victory got Cypress Creek back to even at 5-5. As for East Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cypress Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like East Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
