San Marcos moved up to 219 from 253 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Valley. The Knights climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Fallbrook 42-14.
San Marcos took down the Warriors 42-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. James Harwell threw for 281 yards and 5 touchdowns and ran for 55 yards during the win.
Coach Texler's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Dustin Lorenzen chipped in 78 yards. Tyler Nix helped San Marcos' passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 84 yards.
Jack Packwood made the biggest impact on defense this week as Del Norte lost to El Capitan. The 5-foot-11 defensive lineman racked up 1 sack.
He was 19-29 with 1 interception.
Harwell put up the best numbers in passing as the Knights topped Fallbrook. Harwell's favorite target this week was Isiah Hennie, who caught 9 passes for 142 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Parker Lappin of the Nighthawks is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,873. He has also thrown 18 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Hennie. The San Marcos star has 80 catches for 1,358 yards.
San Marcos made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,628 from 3,203. The improvement was largely due to a 42-14 victory over Kyle Williams' team last week.
