Basketball Preview: Conway Springs Cardinals vs. Garden Plain Owls
The Conway Springs Cardinals will head out on the road to challenge the Garden Plain Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Conway Springs is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Last Tuesday, Conway Springs was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-42 to the Eagles. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Conway Springs came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Eagles are ranked 210th).
Garden Plain lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They suffered a tough 73-50 loss at the hands of Cheney. Garden Plain has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Conway Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 8-5-1. As for Garden Plain, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Conway Springs beat the Owls 65-56 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Conway Springs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
