Soccer Game Preview: Waterloo vs. Father McGivney Catholic

Waterloo has won three straight games at home, while Father McGivney Catholic has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Bulldogs will host the Griffins at 5:45 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Waterloo was able to grind out a solid victory over Civic Memorial, taking the game 3-1. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Waterloo's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Civic Memorial are ranked 226th).

Meanwhile, Father McGivney Catholic kept a clean sheet against Maryville Christian on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 4-0 margin over the Lions. The result was nothing new for Father McGivney Catholic, who have now won nine contests by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Maryville Christian with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Natalie Beck (2), Brynn Hawkins, and Grace Welser.

Waterloo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those five matchups. As for Father McGivney Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 14-0.
