Baseball Game Preview: Novi Wildcats vs. Allen Park Jaguars

The Novi Wildcats will take on the Allen Park Jaguars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Novi comes in on three and Allen Park on seven.

Novi came out on top against Plymouth Christian Academy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Wildcats walked away with an 8-3 win over the Eagles.

Trenton typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Allen Park proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Trojans 4-2.

Jack Labiak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brody Matelic, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Carlos Valdovinos-Plank, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Allen Park's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-8-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Novi, their victory bumped their record up to 23-12.

Novi beat Allen Park 7-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
