Basketball Game Preview: Bay Yellowjackets vs. Buffalo Island Central Mustangs

The Bay Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to face off against the Buffalo Island Central Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bay is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Bay was beaten by Riverside 62-21. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Rebels are ranked 37th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Buffalo Island Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They breezed by Marmaduke to the tune of 65-31 on Tuesday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

Buffalo Island Central's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-12. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Bay, their loss dropped their record down to 4-20.

Bay ended up a good deal behind Buffalo Island Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, losing 72-53. Can Bay avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
