Recap: Making Waves Academy Marlins vs. Cornerstone Christian Cougars
On Friday, Making Waves Academy came up short against Cornerstone Christian and fell 57-46. While losing is never fun, Making Waves Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 857th, while Cornerstone Christian is ranked 357th).
Leading Cornerstone Christian to victory were AJ McCoy and Benjamin Lukacs. McCoy scored 14 points, while Lukacs scored 17 points. The game was McCoy's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kamel Johnson, who scored seven points.
Making Waves Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Cornerstone Christian, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Making Waves Academy will take on Contra Costa Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cornerstone Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against California Crosspoint at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. California Crosspoint knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Cornerstone Christian likes a good challenge.
