Basketball Recap: Benjamin Takes a Loss

On Monday, the Benjamin Buccaneers were beaten by the Spanish River Sharks 53-18. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Benjamin's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of CJ Smith, who posted a point and five steals, and Maddie Amorosino, who had a point. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Ellie Neuman was nothing short of spectacular for Spanish River: she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds. Those 19 boards gave Neuman a new career-high. Emma Feinstein was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Benjamin's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Spanish River, they moved to 3-11 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Benjamin has already played their next matchup, a 52-29 loss against Park Vista on the 14th. As for Spanish River, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-35 defeat against Pine Crest on the 14th.
