Basketball Recap: Georgetown Bulldogs vs. Hanahan Hawks

Georgetown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-33 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hanahan Hawks. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2020.

Camdyn Lawson was the offensive standout of the match as she posted 16 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Johnsen, who had five points along with six boards and five assists.

Georgetown's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Hanahan, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3.

Georgetown will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ashley Ridge at 1:45 p.m. on December 30th. As for Hanahan, they will head out on the road to square off against Cathedral Academy at 5:45 p.m. on December 27th.
