Football Recap: King Comes Up Short

King fell victim to Morgan Park and their airtight defense on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 42-0 loss at the hands of the Mustangs. Having soared to a lofty 50 points in the game before, the Jaguars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Morgan Park to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ronald Smith Jr., who threw for 285 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 42 yards. Nasir Rankin also helped with two touchdowns in total.

With the loss, King broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3. As for Morgan Park, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. King will welcome Payton College Prep at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Grizzlies' defense has only allowed 12.3 points per game this season, so the Jaguars' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Morgan Park, they will square off against Kenwood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Mustangs 8, the Broncos 13.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
