Softball Game Preview: Mendon Unity Mustangs vs. Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes

The Mendon Unity Mustangs will square off against the Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mendon Unity has given up an average of 12.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mendon Unity is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Camp Point Central on Monday. They lost 11-1 to the Panthers.

Morgan Arnsman and Jillian Shaffer did some serious damage despite the final result: Arnsman went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Shaffer went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those hits marked the first that Arnsman has got this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Griggsville-Perry). They blew past Routt Catholic 12-3 on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tornadoes needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Mendon Unity dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Griggsville-Perry, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9.
