Basketball Recap: Make It Nine in a Row for Bayfield

Bayfield had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.1 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Monday. They took their match with ease, bagging a 101-37 win over the Cornell Chiefs. The Trollers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 20 points or more this season.

Bayfield had a senior duo take command as Quintin Bresette dropped a triple-double with 31 points, ten rebounds, and 15 assists and Maxwell Gordon dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards. Bresette's morning made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dashon Tourdot, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.

Bayfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 30 assists. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now racked up at least 21 assists in four consecutive contests.

Bayfield's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 95.6 points over those games. As for Cornell, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-21.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bayfield beat Cornell by a score of 101-37 on Tuesday.
