Westinghouse comes up short despite Jamilah Jackson's dominant performance

Recap: Westinghouse Warriors vs. Lane Tech Champions

It was a good run, but the Westinghouse Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Lane Tech 56-52. Westinghouse was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lane Tech apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Despite the loss, Westinghouse still got an impressive performance from Jamilah Jackson, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Jackson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nina Israel, who scored eight points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Westinghouse smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lane Tech only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.

Leading Lane Tech to victory were Grace Bush and Melanie Blanco. Bush scored 14 points along with eight rebounds, while Blanco scored 17 points along with three steals. Blanco hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Sophia Lamperis was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.

Westinghouse's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Lane Tech, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.

Westinghouse won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Senn at 5:00 p.m. on January 19th. Senn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 542nd, while Westinghouse is ranked 120th). As for Lane Tech, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Glenbrook North at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th.
