Baseball Game Preview: Alleman Pioneers vs. Rock Island Rocks

Alleman is 1-9 against Rock Island since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Pioneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rocks at 4:30 p.m. Alleman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Alleman will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Rock Island, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Pioneers walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Rocks on Monday.

Adam VanMeighem was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off ten hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Alleman let Gavin Awbrey and Cael Kuster run wild. Awbrey went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Kuster went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Rock Island has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Alleman, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.
