The Richwood Lumberjacks are taking a road trip to challenge the Mount View Golden Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Richwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Richwood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Greenbrier West, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lumberjacks were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Cavaliers on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lumberjacks needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Parker Giles made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Richwood got a big performance out of Jaden Jantuah, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, Jantuah posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Owen Wayne also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Richwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenbrier West only posted a batting average of .176.
Meanwhile, Mount View beat Van 8-5 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Knights.
Like Richwood, Mount View also got a great game from a two-way player: Kyrece Hughes. On the mound, Hughes tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hunter Muncy struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. In other batting news, Seth Hall was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of David Little, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Richwood's record now sits at 2-3. As for Mount View, their record is now 2-0.
Richwood took their victory against Mount View in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lumberjacks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
