Volleyball Recap: Cumberland Beavers vs. Spooner Rails

Cumberland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They came up short against the Spooner Rails, falling 3-0. The Beavers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rails apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Cumberland was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-15, 25-15.

Alexis Peterson paced Cumberland's offense, picking up six kills. Peterson got some help from Natalie Anderson and her 15 assists. Hailey Paulson controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Cumberland's defeat dropped their record down to 4-22. As for Spooner, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-15.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Cumberland will face off against rival Northwestern at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Spooner is set to take on their familiar foe Ashland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
