Baseball Recap: Columbus Starts off Right with Win over Quapaw

Columbus took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They never let the Quapaw Wildcats get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Ben Major and Syler Schuberger made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Major pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Schuberger tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Major scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Schuberger scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rece Ponce, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Carter Woodcock was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Columbus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quapaw only posted an OBP of .300.

Quapaw dropped their record down to 5-8 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Columbus wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-2 win against Parsons on the 27th. As for Quapaw, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-5 victory against Baxter Springs on the 27th.
