Amazing Alabama ending might not be topped as possible play of the year.
While some high school football teams are playing Week 5 games and some have yet to take the field, there might already be a winner for play of the year. The wild ending that saw
Hillcrest (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) beat Wetumpka 35-30 likely will remain unchallenged in the annals of crazy football finishes.
Unofficially, the play included a completed forward pass, 10 laterals and pair of fumbles that led to an eventual touchdown by Hillcrest quarterback
Ethan Crawford — who began the entire sequence with a short completion.
How insane was that play? It was so captivating that it easily outpaced a
Licking Valley (Newark, Ohio) Hail Mary completion with time expiring to escape with a 24-22 win over Granville. With one second left,
Cameron Parmer heaved a 40-yard bomb to the end zone and found
Denali Harris for the win.
