Recap: Covington Trojans vs. Parke Heritage Wolves

The Covington Trojans were the 55-50 winner over the Parke Heritage Wolves when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The match between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Covington falling 66-50. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Parke Heritage is ranked 83rd).

When it comes to explaining why Covington lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Coye Ferguson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Ferguson hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Austin Stein, who scored ten points along with five assists and two steals.

Parke Heritage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carter Crum, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Renn Harper was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.

Covington now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Parke Heritage, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Covington will take on Southmont at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southmont is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Parke Heritage won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cloverdale at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cloverdale has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Parke Heritage will arrive with three straight wins.
