Softball Recap: Lane Tech's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lane Tech extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 7-5 in the process. They put the hurt on the Niles West Wolves with a sharp 15-4 win. The Champions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 11 runs or more this season.

Olivia Segura and Hannah Roeder did most of the damage at the plate: Segura went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Roeder went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Brobson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Lane Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

As for Niles West, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. Surprisingly, this marked their fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

On Niles West's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Hortega, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Amaya Joyce also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Lane Tech has already played their next game, a 9-2 victory against Northside on the 16th. As for Niles West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Taft on the 15th.
