Basketball Recap: Lawrence-Nelson Raiders vs. Silver Lake Mustangs

Lawrence-Nelson lost against Silver Lake on February 4th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lawrence-Nelson Raiders took a blow against the Silver Lake Mustangs, falling 54-27. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th in Nebraska, while the Mustangs are ranked 87th in Nebraska).

Despite the loss, Lawrence-Nelson still got an impressive performance from Kara Menke, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 20 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. That's the most blocks Menke has posted since back in December of 2024.

Lawrence-Nelson's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-16. As for Silver Lake, their victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4.

Lawrence-Nelson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Silver Lake, it'll be an old-fashioned rodeo when the Mustangs duke it out with the Broncos at 6:00 p.m. on February 28th.
