Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Benjamin Russell walked away with it. They walked away with a 26-14 victory over the Central Falcons on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Benjamin Russell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kingston Preyear, who threw for 403 yards and four TDs while picking up 14.9 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 41 yards. Those 403 passing yards gave Preyear a new career-high. A healthy portion of Preyear's aerial production (164 yards to be exact) went to Cederian Morgan, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tra'Von Hall, who rushed for 80 yards and one score on only seven carries, and also picked up 57 receiving yards. Anthony Dixon was another key player, rushing for 75 yards and one touchdown.
Benjamin Russell's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Looking ahead, Benjamin Russell will take on Theodore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
