Basketball Recap: Vassar Takes a Loss

Vassar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Caro Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vulcans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-42 back in January.

Despite the loss, Vassar still got an impressive performance from Austin Long, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 27 points and four steals. Long is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Madix Gorleski was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

It was another big night for Connor McGarry, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds for Caro. That's the most boards McGarry has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Wilding, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Vassar's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Caro, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11.

Vassar will venture away from home to take on Cass City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vassar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season. As for Caro, they will be playing at home against Unionville-Sebewaing at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Caro is facing Unionville-Sebewaing at the right time seeing as Unionville-Sebewaing is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
