Samantha Case spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Charlene Bonilla, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Faith Goldfield, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Westlake's offense. They lost 10-0 to Oaks Christian two weeks ago. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Thousand Oaks is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Westlake, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-9.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Thousand Oaks hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Westlake struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
