Basketball Game Preview: Jubilee Brownsville Titans vs. San Perlita Trojans

The Jubilee Brownsville Titans and the San Perlita Trojans will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jubilee Brownsville has five straight victories, San Perlita has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

While Jubilee Brownsville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They secured a 57-51 W over Macedonian Christian two weeks ago.

Jubilee Brownsville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nick Zarate, who almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 13 boards, and nine assists. Those nine assists gave Zarate a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Deron Holland, who went 7 of 13 en route to 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-38, which was the final score in San Perlita's tilt against Economedes on Tuesday.

Jubilee Brownsville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for San Perlita, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Jubilee Brownsville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against San Perlita in their previous matchup back in December of 2020, but they still walked away with a 78-74 win.
