Baseball Recap: Montgomery Central Takes a Loss

Montgomery Central had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-12 to make it five. They fell 10-5 to the Asheboro Blue Comets. The Timberwolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Comets earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

As for Asheboro, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-15. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Asheboro's part, Gavin Allen made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Allen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Asheboro got a big performance out of Shane Immel, who went 4-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave Immel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cohen Caviness, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI.

Looking ahead, Montgomery Central will host Southwestern Randolph at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Asheboro, they have already played their next game, a 5-0 victory against Eastern Randolph on the 18th.
