Baseball Game Preview: TMI-Episcopal Panthers vs. Central Catholic Buttons

For the second straight game, TMI-Episcopal will face off against Central Catholic. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Buttons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

TMI-Episcopal is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Central Catholic on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Buttons by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since April 12, 2024.

Ankith Padala was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Padala wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trent Spivey, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The victory was the tenth in a row for Central Catholic, bringing their record up to 22-5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for TMI-Episcopal, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
